A Fine example of a Classic Mimbres bowl from Southern New Mexico dating Ca. 1000 -1250 A.D.
The bowl measures 5 1/2" in height by a full 12" in diameter. The slip is pure white and the design elements are charcoal black. Various geometric elements include fine line artwork, large quadangular elements encasing triangles and a stylized macaw on one side. There are also lightning bolts and other odd and interesting touches. The bowl has moderate professional restoration in the white area toward the center. A great bowl for the price! The bowl is legal for private ownership under all current State and Federal laws.
