A robust Nicoya kneeling figure from Costa Rica dating Ca. 500 A.D. - 1000 A.D. This outstanding figure stands 7 1/8" in height and is in excellent condition with minor abrasions and minimal paint loss on the rear. He is painted in colors of orange, red, and black on a cream background and there are numerous mineral deposits attesting to his great age. He is attired with a coiled hat and earspools and covered in geometric motifs which most likely denote textile patterns. He is holding a scepter or club in his left hand. There is one professionally stabilized fracture on his left shoulder. The price is an excellent bargain for a piece of this quality!
