This compact Nicoya robust female effigy is from Costa Rica and dates Ca. 500 A.D. -1000 A.D. At only 4 1/2" in height she displays great attitude sitting with her legs akimbo and a ramrod straight back and a no nonsense attitude. The buxom maiden is painted with red and black designs on a tan background. She is garbed in a red loin cloth and has black geometric designs on her legs as well as her shoulders. Her black hair is closely cropped in the front and squared off at the shoulders in the back.
She has scattered mineral deposits attesting to her great age. There are several minor spots of paint loss but they detract in no way from the esthetics of this compact masterpiece!
