DESCRIPTION: An intact solid pottery standing figure measuring 5" in height by 2 1/4" in width. The figure has a massive incised rounded hairdo held in place by a wide ornate band with three raised center elements flanked by "X" designs on each side. Remnants of the original red and white pigments still remain. She has upward slanted incised coffee bean eyes, raised brows, large ear spools, and a bracelet around one of her crossed arms which she holds clutched to her chest. Numerous mineral deposits attest to her great antiquity. The custom metal stand is included.
Provenance: The piece was de-accessed from a museum in Almogordo, New Mexico a number of years ago when it closed its doors.
