ORIGIN: Ecuador / Manabi Provence...North Coast
AGE: Ca. 500 B.C. - 500 A.D.
DESCRIPTION: A polychrome round cylindrical vessel 6 5/8 " in height by 6" from the front of the figure to the back of jar. The figure is wearing an ornate round "ribboned" head piece, ear spools, a nose ring, a multi-strand necklace with numerous dangling pendants, ankle bracelets, as well as a waist length tunic. He has all of the ornate touches attributed to Jama-Coaque ceramics! The almond shaped eyes are deeply incised and give the impression that the figure is staring straight ahead without distraction. Remnants of the original red and green pigments are still evident. A beautiful and well thought out artistic ceremonial creation!
PROVENANCE: The Lands Beyond Time Collection
