This elegant professionally strung jewellry creation with a clasp measures 14/12" on each side for wearable length (the overall length is 29") and is comprised of 32 Pre-Columbian round and tublar jade beads with a beautifully carved anthropomorphic pendant measuring 1 3/4" in height by 1" in width comprised of a dark green jade with speckled cinnamon and black shades in the stone. The jade beads and pendant are Maya from Mexico and date Ca. 100 - 860A.D. The jade beads have been combined with old pawn Navajo aged silver beads to keep the weight of the piece light and comfortable. The Maya were proud of their jade wealth and tended to wear massive numerous heavy necklaces which are just not practical for today's living. This piece would be elegant worn with a black evening gown and would even fit well with Levis and a comfortable blouse. Why keep artifacts on a dusty shelf when they can be worn and enjoyed in today's society? PROVENANCE: jade beads / Arte Primitivo....silver beads /Ron Munn Auctions
