CULTURE: Nayarit ORIGIN: West Coast Mexico AGE: Ca. 100 B. C. - 250 A. D. DESCRIPTION: A large and well modeled example of the type measuring 14 3/4" in height. A nicely burnished reddish/buff hollow figure seated on a two legged stool with her arms casually resting on her upper waist. She is ornamented with a tightly fitting headdress, a nose ornament, and multiple ear cuffs on each ear. Her head is of a large triangular shape with deeply incised slit eyes and mouth. She is in excellent condition with scattered mineral deposits. She sits staring straight ahead in a calm contemplative state. PROVENANCE: The Morris Khouli Gallery, New York.
