ORIGIN: Ecuador / high Andes plain near the border of Colombia

DESCRIPTION: A polychrome pedestal footed bowl measuring 7 3/4" in diameter by 3" in height. The negative design colors are black, cream, and a pale gold/yellow. The central design element most likely represents the planet Venus. There are four "ghost like" figures extending from the rim toward the star surrounded by triangular borders. The inner rim is surrounded by "ticking" elements.
The exterior is black with six triangular elements comprised of wide cream colored bands. The bowl exhibits strong colors and fine design work. PROVENANCE: A San Diego, California, family collection.
