ORIGIN: Costa Rica AGE: 1000 - 1400 A. D. This outstanding tripod (spider leg) vessel stands 10 1/2" in height. The central body is rounded with a tall flaring spout supported by long, pierced tapering legs with the rattles still intact. Each leg has an impressive applied lizard form measuring a full 7 1/2" in overall length. The lizards are highly detailed with deeply incised faces, feet, and tails. The shoulder of the vessel is decorated with incised circular lines as well as as three sets of raised circular elements. The overall impression is one of tall airy elegance.
