CULTURE: Colima ORIGIN: West Mexico AGE: CA. 300 B. C. - 300 A. D. SIZE: 6 3/4" in length by 5" in height DESCRIPTION: A unique example of a Colima effigy figure. This compelling jar is in the form of a coatimundi. He is both fetching and winsome with his long nose, perked up ears, and round slightly startled eyes.He is well burnished and has an interesting incised geometric area between the large spout and his head. To call him charming is an understatement as you will see from the photos. If you are tired of the myriad of dogs that came out of West Mexico...you will find this refreshing and not trite. Enjoy...
