DESCRIPTION: A beautifully burnished figure carrying an offering jar in his right hand. He is wearing an incised band around his waist . His feet and hands are deeply incised and he is wearing a round close fitting cap. He has a contented smile on his face. Deformed and unusual people were highly venerated by many of the ancient South American cultures. The feeling was that the gods made them special and unusual for a reason. They were often held in high esteem and honor. They were often the trusted personal advisers to the nobility and rulers. Different times...different beliefs...
