CULTURE: Colima ORIGIN: West Mexico AGE: Ca. 300 B. C. - 300 A. D. SIZE: 4 1/2" in height by 3 1/2" in width DESCRIPTION: A solid molded noble or warrior sitting in a cross legged position with his hands resting on his knees. The figure is both composed and confident. He is stately with his elaborate ornamentation which includes a finely twisted and knotted cap, decorative scarification or tatooing on his upper arms, double bracelets on each upper arm, a necklace with two large pendants, and a loin cloth tied at the side with hanging tassels and a wide incised panel at the rear. He is skillfully and elegantly sculpted. Numerous mineral formations attest to his great age. A very fine example of the type.
