Description: An exceptional jar of unparalleled quality of construction and a fantastical design motif. The vessel is a canteen shaped tan terracotta jar with a circular base leading up to a tapering spout. The central design is a bas relief scene on both sides of the body. It depicts a warrior in intricate full regalia posed in a fighting stance surrounded by eight human skulls. The jar has diagonal ribbing on both side panels. The piece is abundantly highlighted with red cinnabar. There is one miniscule hairline stabilized crack. The piece is otherwise intact and as found with no overpaint or restoration.
