Antique Japanese Mingei Screen, Tozan, Yuzo, Senshu…
A large screen from the late 1920s or 30s handpainted by a number of artists and potters including Ito Tozan, Kondo Yuzo, Ida Senshu and possibly Ishiguro Munemaru. The title reads Muchu Choshun (Deep in the dream of a long Spring) and is followed by a signature I cannot yet read. To the right of the last character (shun) is the signature of the lacquer artist Ida Senshu. On the right side of the Tsubo within its borders we see Ito Tozan II and Living National Treasure Kondo Yuzo. Just below the branch we see Mune (possibly Living National Treasure Ishiguro Munemaru, 1893-1968). Each panel is 26-1/2 x 83 inches (67.5 x 210 cm). It has been completely remounted onto a new screen with antique gold border inside black lacquered frame.
