Exquisite Takatori Kin-Yu Banko Hibachi Set
An incredible flambé style yellow and orange flowing glaze in the style of Takatori Kin-yu covers the white clay of this set of Banko Hibachi dating from the first half of the 20th century by Kuroda Mitsuraku. Each is 9 inches (23 cm) tall, 11 inches (28 cm) diameter. They would make great planters or even wine coolers.
Kuroda Mitsuraku I (Tanjuro, 1891-1965) was a Banko artist specializing in the resurrection and development of Kessho-yu crystalline glazes. He established the Mitsuraku Kiln in Yokaichi city, Mie prefecture in 1911. His son, Mitsuraku II (Kosaburo) was born in 1932. He was the first Banko artist accepted into the prestigious Nitten National Exhibition and has carried on his fathers research and development of Kessho-yu in Banko.
