For anyone who has seen the recent show at the Met, Birds in Japanese Art, here a Bunko Box of raw Kiri-wood fitted with a panel of gilded silk embroidered with a HO-O phoenix in silk thread in the manner of the painting master Ito Jakuchu. It is 34 x 42 x 17 cm (13-1/2 x 16-1/2 x 6-1/2 inches) and in overall excellent condition and comes enclosed in an old custom made wooden box. Dating from the first half of the 20th century.
