Hotei, the merry god of fortune, marches with a grin dragging behind his massive sack of goodies like an ancient Chinese Santa Claus. Extremely well formed and decorated, this okimono comes enclosed in the original wooden box signed Shunko (Harumitsu) and dating from the early 20th century. The artists mark is visible on the bag. It is roughly 5 inches (13 cm) tall and in excellent condition.
