ANTIQUE Japanese BRONZE & MIXED METAL OKIMONO, SIGNED
A sharply sculpted mixed metal pigeon perches on the edge of this discarded bronze roof tile, a fine sculpture signed and enclosed in the original signed wooden box. The bird is signed underneath Seifu, matching the signature on the box. It is in perfect condition, and comes with an accompanying black lacquered wooden display table. The original tag inside the box shows this was made for Wako, in Tokyos Ginza district, likely around 1920. The okimono is roughly 8 inches (20 cm) long, an excellent example of the simple taste so popular in the Japanese aesthetic.
