| A gilded and lacquered Momoyama period armor designated Special Armor of Significant Importance (Koshu Tokubetsu Kicho Shiryo) by the Japanese Armor Society. It is properly titled Byakudan Nuri Iyozane Haku-Ito Sugake Odoshi Ni-Mai-Do Gusoku (Two Part Armor of Iyozane Scales in Open White Lace Gilded with transparent red lacquer (Byakudan Nuri)). The deadline for bidding is Nov. 26th (Japan time).The Momonari peaked helmet was originally covered in hair, the base of which is extant, with wakidate of long tubular ears and a large sun maedate. The Shikoro is covered in gold and lacquered, suspended with white chord in kebiki lacing in accordance with the rest of the armor fringes. The Sode are matching, backed with leather pads. It features an Iyozane Do of wide horizontal scales laced in vertical rows in the sugake style. Crests decorate the upper plates and 6 rows of five Kusazuri hang from the waste in tight kebiki lacing. The Sangu are all backed with simple cobalt dyed cloth, and all parts are original to the armor. The sleeves are also decorated with various crests in pierced plates. A very smart looking and rare armor, it comes in the Edo period storage box pictured. | |||||||||||||||
