Edward Swoboda started the Swoboda company in 1956 and was one of the few costume jewelers of the time to use semi precious stones in costume settings. Nate Waxman joined the Swoboda company in 1957 and was a pivotal force in making the company one of the "legendary" costume jewelry firms of the 20th century. Nate worked with designs, castings, plating, and mold making, but it was this knowledge coupled with his business know how that landed him business partner in the 1960's. The company maintained 3 permanent showrooms in Los Angeles, New York, and Dallas, and retailed through the finest of stores including Neiman Marcus, Harrod's of London, Gump's, Marshall Fields, and Saks Fifth Avenue. Lush Life Antiques is pleased to offer select pieces from Mr Waxman's personal vintage collection as well as select reissues. This elegant crown pin measures 1 5/8" long x 1 1/2" wide and is made from 22k gold plated metal. The front is elaborately set with peridot, turquoise, garnet, and jade semiprecious gemstones. The reverse has a secure pin and is hallmarked "Swoboda". It is in excellent condition. |
