Rare Tina Chow Sterling Rock Crystal Earrings
These unique asymmetric earrings are by the renowned model, collector, and designer, Tina Chow (1950-1992). Tina's unusual Eurasian looks landed her a prolific modeling career in New York City. She was a regular in the Andy Warhol circle and rubbed elbows with Jean-Michel Basquiat, Manalo Blahnik, Dianna Vreeland, Zandra Rhodes, Diane von Furstenberg, Keith Haring, and Antonio Lopez. She had a legendary fashion sense which blended the new look with vintage classics. Her impressive couture collection was sold at Christies New York, and featured works by Balenciaga, Fortuny, Schiaparelli, and Chanel. Before her demise she collaborated on the text "Flair: Fashion collected by Tina Chow".

Tina believed in the healing power of crystals, which was first introduced to her by Andy Warhol. Her father being a bamboo harvester, she took inspiration from the two media and began a collection of jewelry using both bamboo and crystal. It was sold through Bergdorf Goodman and a handful of exclusive retailers in the US and Europe. She was not a prolific designer, so few pieces were made. Her designs are known known for their simple elegance as can be seen in these stunning earrings. They have have an unusual asymmetric design and each measures 3 1/2" long from the top of the fish hook carrier to the bottom of the silver tangle. One earring has 6MM rock crystal beads, and the other has 12MM ovoid crystal beads. They are both in excellent condition and both have attached Tina Chow drop tags. One tag has the full name inscribed "Tina Chow" as well as 925, and the other has an abbreviated "T Chow" with 925. The one earring with the conical dangle has some indentations which are original to the earring.

These earrings come directly from the original owner who purchased them at Bergdorf Goodman in the early 1990's. The owner recalls wearing them only 2 times. Tina's jewelry RARELY hits the secondary market. In fact, I have only seen 3 pieces in the past 2 years offered through ebay and major auction houses. This is your chance to own an original piece from this great style icon!
