| Original felt wall hanging by accomplished Inuit artist Joy Kiluvigyuak Hallauk (1940-2000); recently recovered from an eclectic Southern California estate. Work measures approximately 15 1/2 x 29 inches. Medium: felt / wool. Work appears to be entirely hand embroidered. Signature stitched lower right. Condition: Appears to be in very good condition, a small apparent moth hole lower right quadrant, with some mild age/handling wear; has not been cleaned. Please see photos. Colors are still vibrant and fresh. The previous owner amassed a tremendous collection in the 1960s and 1970s and I therefore believe this work to date to that period, although I will leave it to the buyer to date the work more precisely. Authenticity is guaranteed. Joy Hallauk is one of the most well-known and well-respected Inuit wall hanging artists and sculptors. Hallauk’s work may be found in the collections of the Art Gallery of Ontario, the Canadian Museum of Civilization, the Winnipeg Art Gallery, the Musee d'art Inuit Brousseau, the New Brunswick Museum, the Arnold Aubert Vernon Inuit Collection at Louisiana State University, and the University of Alberta. Domestic continental shipping is $15. Shipping to Canada is $30. Please inquire for additional shipping options. | ||
