|This is a magnificent oil painting by internationally renowned Italian artist Bruno Paoli (Italian, 1915-2005). Title: "Ricordi" (Memories). Born in Florence in 1915, Bruno Paoli first began showing his work outside of Italy after receiving his degree from the Art Institute of Florence. He exhibited at the Galleria Flore (1942) and the Via Larga Gallery (1943). Paoli's expressionist paintings were often compared with those of Gauguin, Modigliani and Rouault. In 1950 he began teaching at the prestigious Art Institute of Porta Romana, a position he would hold for over four decades. In 1953 he won the coveted buying prize from the The Gallery of Modern Art, Florence. He then went on to win the Mario Bucci award. His works may be found in some of the most famous museums throughout Italy and the world, including The Sita Museum, Tuscany and the Gallery of Contemporary Art, Arezzo. Work measures 16 inches x 11 3/4 inches. Framed as shown, work measures 25 inches x 21 inches. Medium: oil on canvas. Signed upper right.
