This Chinese pottery vase has a tri-color glaze of green, brown and blue/grey streaming randomly down over the surface, stopping just short of covering the buff base. Two animal masks and rings molded along the side, together with its shape and sancai glaze, give this mid-Qing piece the look of a much earlier Han urn. Chinese potters, in veneration of the skills of their ancestors, often created work that mirrored earlier styles, unwittingly adding confusion for latter day collectors attempting to establish dates. This heavy vase, with its ancient design elements, is interesting both in its own right as a late 18th/early 19th century piece and as a Qing interpretation of the Han aesthetic. It is in excellent condition with no chips. Dimensions: height 13" (33 cm), diameter 10-1/2" (27 cm). SEE MORE ITEMS IN OUR COLLECTION AT WWW.SILKROAD1.COM
