| A late 19th century hand hammered copper tray from the Republic of Georgia has a thin coating of tin, similar to wine pitchers we have from the same country. (See our catalogue listings 27-85 and 28-01.) This large (26-inch diameter) tray most likely was used to hold such wine pitchers during the festive wine-infused dinners called supras that are traditional in the Georgian culture. The tray is in good condition; the top side shows evidence of long use, the bottom surface shows little wear. A metal ring is attached suggesting it originally was stored on a wall. It would look handsome as wall art. Dimensions: diameter 26” (66 cm), height at rim 1” (2.5 cm). | ||||||
