A bronze statuette of Osiris with a small cat at his feet, with a lovely green patina and comparatively light wear for its considerable age, leaving its features strong and completely visible (unlike many other similar examples) as well as completely intact with no repairs or breaks. EXCELLENT PROVENANCE to guarantee legality of original acquisition. Overall this piece is in wonderful condition comparatively to many other late period Osiris bronze pieces, or any items of this age for that matter (2300-2700 years old). Osiris is shown in the traditional mummiform style with the tripartite Atef 'crown of Ra' and holding his crook and flail.
Ancient Egyptian Late Period 664-332 BCE
Height: 4" (excluding attached antique base, on which he is firmly mounted)

Upon retiring from Congress after a long and successful career, Sir Foley was given one last task to serve his Country and was appointed by President Clinton to the post of Ambassador of Japan in 1997, a post he held until his retirement in 2001.
