$595

This is one of several Victorian bracelets recently purchased in London. It's inspiration is the Aesthetic Movement popularized after the trade agreement with Japan in 1854. The art of Japan was now open to Europe and the demand was strong. Silversmith's interpreted the naturalistic themes and metalwork and created beautifully rendered designs.

In this bracelet, the sides have branches and birds engraved and ...click for details

$1200

This ring is most unique. I have never in over 25 years of collecting come across a gold Scottish agate eternity ring. This example, rendered in 9k, has fine engraving work and the gold work itself is superior.

The ring, a work of art, is scalloped in design and fitted with shaped cabachon agates. The agates well chosen for color include bloodstone, mauve, mustard and jasper hues. It is classical in inspiration and ...click for details

This cuff bracelet is English, circa 1880. It is more unusual than most, having fine pierced work creating vines, leaves and flowers. The use of multi- colored gold used with silver, became popular when the art of Japan was widely introduced in Europe. Commodore Perry credited with bringing about a trade agreement with Japan also opened the world to Japanese art and culture. In this example the pierced silver work is superb as is the hand engraving. The open work adds not only light, but looks ...click for details

Impressive and long, these garnet earrings are English, circa 1810. They are designed with foiled back, flat cut garnets, all set in hand crimped settings. The almondine garnets have a rich pink to cranberry color. They are flat cut as was typical of the period and have tiny facets around the perimeter of each stone. The reflection of light adds a subtle beauty and characteristic variation of hue.

This unusual sterling bangle bracelet is designed with a star motif. Three bold stars studded with tiny round circles that are faceted, surround the front of the bracelet. The top and bottom also have a border that echoes the central motif of stars. It also has a lovely twisted rope edge border framing the tiny stars. The back surface is unadorned which is typical of bracelets from this period. It opens and closes securely with a concealed push clasp. The bracelet has hallmarks for Birmingham an ...click for details

$395

This antique sterling locket is English, circa 1880. The Aesthetic Movement is evident in this lovely locket with its multi- colors and naturalistic theme. This movement was born with the trade agreement made between the United States and Japan. Japanese art found a new market and silversmiths in England eagerly designed jewelry for the populace that desired this new look. This locket is typical of the fashion, finely detailed with vines and a flower motif. The leaves are finished in a yellow go ...click for details

$3850

Each time I come across something unique it thrills me. This pair of earrings are English, circa 1850, and are exquisitely rendered in gold and turquoise. The condition defies the age, as these are near pristine. They are designed as clusters of flower heads centered with cabachon turquoise stones. The original patina of the 18k gold is extraordinary and rich. It is also remarkably light, and almost floats on the ear and yet it makes a bold statement. It measures almost 2 3/8 inches long with th ...click for details

$3600

This hand wrought antique ring is English Arts and Crafts. It is designed in gold and silver utilizing faceted peridot, tourmalines and pearls.

The ring is attributed to Dorrie Nossiter who worked during the 1930's. She was a good friend of Sybil Dunlop and there were many similarities in their work. Many of Nossiter's pieces used faceted and claw set stones rather than cabachon as used by Dunlop. HOWEVER, it ...click for details

I rarely get this form of earring in inventory, but just in from Paris, are these spectacular paste earrings. This very desirable form is a solitaire with a tiny paste accent stone on the top. Each paste is set in silver, hand crimped collets just as the diamonds were set in this period. They are 19th century back to front gold fittings that are a very pale rose gold. The earrings measure 3/4 inches long x slightly less than 1/2 inches wide. The large stones are a cushion shaped rose cut. The ...click for details

This ring is a fine example of the Arts and Crafts Movement in England, circa 1900. It is rendered in sterling, and has opals, emeralds and moonstones in a hand worked setting. The moonstones and opals are bezel set and cabachon cut. The emeralds are faceted and bezel set. The color play is beautiful and the gemstones reflect the choice of colors that were popular during the Arts and Crafts period. The materials used were not chosen for intrinsic value, but rather for color and self expression. ...click for details
