Incredibly beautiful and rare, this diamond topaz pendant is Portuguese, circa 1780. It has a large classical, looped ribbon bow motif, replete with tendrils and flowers. The fine silver work is encrusted with tiny rose cut diamonds set in fine rub over mounts. The diamonds add sparkle with every turn and is especially lovely in the evening light. Rare and strikingly beautiful, these Portuguese earrings are circa 1780 . They are designed with three articulating sections. They have fine silver work accented with small rose cut diamonds, set in fine rub over mounts. These diamonds are encrusted in every tendril and turn, of the classical three section design. The jewelry made during the years of 1714 to 1830 is referred to as Georgian, since it spanned the reigns of the English King George 1-1V. The jewelry was made by skilled hands, and even imitation stones,or paste, was of equal craftsmanship to those created with real stones. This bracelet has beautiful rose cut garnets in silver rub over settings centered with fine coq de perles. The alternating sections are with a fine flower motif as the silver work as the silver work is as fine as the iridescense of the coq de perle. The garnets are set in closed backs and foil was placed beneath each stone. The use of foil enhanced the color and gave the beautiful variation of hue so prized in early jewelry.
