The bracelets, both silver and gold of the 1880's popularized the buckle motif. This sterling bracelet has the classical buckle motif rendered in rose gold vermeil (gold wash over silver). The influence of Japan, and the mixed metals of the Aesthetic Movement are evident in this design. The bracelet is so easy to wear, as the repousse links gracefully wrap around the wrist. Worn to fit snuggly, or to drape, it is the perfect everyday bracelet.
The bracelet measures a generous 8 inches long X 3/4 inches across the buckle. It terminates with a sturdy concealed push clasp. The condition is very good with two tiny bends on the edge of the buckle near the clasp. It is beautifully designed, and although I have had repousse link bracelets, this is the first with the two tone clasp accenting the links. Classical, England, circa 1880
