This rare Mexican silver bracelet is designed and executed by the famed internationally recognized modernist Antonio
Pineda. It has stylized swans set with deeply incised sterling and set with cabochon obsidian bodies. The design is completely hand rendered and laborious, as the back encases each stone in an X-shaped "cage." The bracelet dates from the 1953-1970 period. It is well designed, has substantial weight and is dramatic. It has an eagle mark with the number 17 which is a government stamp guaranteeing the silver content of 970. it bears the appropriate Antonio marks although poorly struck. It also has the sterling,Mexico,Silver, mark. This bracelet can be seen in the book Silver Seduction, The Art of Antonio Pineda by Gobi Stromberg pg. 138. The condition is very good vintage with minor surface wear on the silver. All obsidian is perfect and the bracelet is completely original. It measures approximately 7 inches interior X approximately 1 3/8. It has a securely designed closure. A wonderful bracelet by a famed Mexican artisan. |
