Simply stated, this is a beautiful example of Georgian paste jewelry. It is designed with finely faceted bright paste stones set foil back ,with hand crimped rub over collets forming flower heads. Each flower is set in silver topped gold. Each of the flower motifs are linked in the center to insure that the bracelet fits perfectly on the wrist. It terminates with a secure integral clasp . It measures 7 inches long X 3/8 ths wide. The bracelet is in excellent condition with each stone bright and reflective. It is especially beautiful in the glow of evening. There are hints of honey toned hues has hues which is from the foil beneath the stones. This variation of hue is part of the unique beauty of early paste jewelry. Items like this, are so very difficult to find as there are collector's world-wide. Fine galleries on 5 Ave. in NYC as well as Madison Avenue feature Georgian paste along side their diamonds and fine antique jewelry. The flower motif is refined and has timeless appeal. Beautiful! England, circa 1800 |
