This antique Victorian sterling silver collar, is English, circa 1880. It has a refined appearance, and is classically inspired in the style of the famed Castellani and Guiliano.
The links are all smooth and beautifully turned. Each side of the necklace has slightly different terminals, a subtle element of design.
It lays perfectly on the neck as the links all move, opening and closing with a large spring ring that can also hold a locket of choice. Worn with the ring at the back, it is an elegant, understated necklace suitable for day or evening wear. it measures 17 1/4 inches X 5/8ths. It is finely rendered, and in perfect condition. This is a very fine example of Victorian silver jewelry, as relevant to fashion in the 19th century as it is today. England, circa 1880
