These are very beautiful Georgian period earrings, circa 1730. They are rock crystals faceted across the entire surface, foil back and set in cut down collets. The color created by the foil is a luscious pink with varying hues. The back has a fine hand engraved floral pattern, in itself a work of art.
The size is a large 3/4 inch round and with the ear wires they measure 1 1/8 inches long. These were originally Georgian cuff buttons, worn by the men in the early part of the 18th century and were converted to earrings with the addition of gold wires. They are the finest I have had the pleasure of selling. The sheer size and color make them a collector's dream. There is some loss of color in the foil, commensurate with age. The crystals are in excellent condition with crisp facets that reflect the light from every angle. Simply wonderful!
England, circa 1730.
