This lovely 18th century ring is French. It has superior 18 karat gold repousse work surrounding the emerald. The diamonds are all set in silver rub over collets. The hand work is finely done, and and the tiny bullets of silver around the perimeter, add texture and visual interest. The shank gently tapers, and has silver fleur de lis decorations on the shoulders.
The condition is excellent with very slight facet wear of the emerald evident only with a loop and expected with a ring of this age. All stones are original. The emerald is foil back and step cut. The shank has a touch mark of an eagle. This would be an 19th century stamp added
to guarantee gold content and would be done by a jeweler wishing to sell, or an owner bringing the item to an assay
office to determine the gold content. It is a 5 1/2 US. The face of the ring measures 5/8 inches across X 1/2 down.
Quite beautiful, early 18th century, France.
