This WMF or Wurttembergische Metallwarefabrik, necklace is German, circa 1930. WMF beads, designed by Karl Weidman, are similar to Tiffany favrile and were known as the Myra Krystall line, This particular beaded necklace, with dark petrol green iridescent glass was created bead by bead, entirely by hand. Each bead has a distinctive hue, and when held to the light reveals a honey colored glass.
This original Art Deco designed necklace has seven large 13.5 mm beads with brass spaces and original silver plated brass chains. It measures 18.5 inches long and terminates with a secure spring ring. One end bead has a tiny chip visible only upon very close inspection. Overall condition is excellent.
The vibrant colors and Art Deco design gives this 80 year old necklace a modern appearance that defies its age. WMF beads are scarce and very beautiful. Germany, circa 1930
