This unique gunmetal long chain was purchased in Paris. At the turn of the 19th Century, alternative metals gained popularity. Women desired a new, sleek look as they entered the world seeking equality. The suffrage movement and women's eagerness to obtain the vote empowered them. Novelty jewelry with hearts and flowers were left behind and a distinguished look was desirable. Gun metal with its smooth, slinky finish and matt, black/ gray color became very popular.
This particular chain is extraordinary in it's modernity and condition. It measures a long 60 inches x 1/4 inches wide.
It weighs 99.8 grams and is in unusually fine condition. It terminates with a dog clip closure which could attach a pendant or charm. If desired it could easily be re-attached to function as a clasp. IT complements every mode of dress with a sophisticated unique appearance.
I can only say it is a treasure and unmatched by almost any other gun metal chain I have sold.
