This sleek bracelet is circa 1890 and is designed with a buckle closure accented with rose gold vermeil (gold wash over silver). The bracelet is Continental 800 silver and is in excellent condition. It opens and closes with a secure push clasp. It has a remarkable modern aesthetic, although it is circa 1900.
The use of both silver and rose gold vermeil was popularized during the Aesthetic Movement , and the influence of Japan and their use of mixed metals are evident in this design.
The bracelet measures 8 1/2 inches long X 7/8 th inches across the buckle and 5/8ths inches across the links. It would accommodate a larger wrist.
It is in superb condition with minor scratch marks commensurate with age and mentioned only for accuracy. It is in usually fine condition and it is rare to find a bracelet sleek and modern with an age of over 100 years old.
It is easily worn with casual or dress clothing.
I have had only one other similar bracelet offered several years ago. It is a wonderful example of Victorian jewelry.
