This exceptional, oversized, bold, revolving three sided intaglio seal is circa 1820. Although I have sold revolving seals before, the large scale and beautiful choice of stone makes this an exceptionally fine example. The intaglios are rendered in jasper, bloodstone and a pale pink quartz and it is 15 karat gold. There is a full family coat of arms as well as smaller private crests for the husband and wife.
It measures a bold 1 3/4 inches from the top to the bottom and 1 5/8 inches across. The total weight is 25.3 dwt.
It is pictured with each side displaying the intaglio. A seen in the photos it is dramatic worn on a long chain and would also be equally lovely on a cord.
The condition is excellent.
It is rare and splendid. Scotland, circa 1820
