This work of art is French, 18 karat gold, and was designed during the Art Nouveau Period of 1895-1905. It is entirely rendered by a highly skilled hand utilizing the process known as plique a jour. This process uses vitreous enamel, or ground glass, that is filled in the empty cells of the pierced gold work. It is then fired and the result is extraordinary. When this process is complete and the pendant is held in the light, it becomes translucent.
This is a unique pendant which states in French Je Porte Bonheur, translated," I Bring Happiness/Good Fortune. " It is a unique, meaningful love token given to a man or women.
The pendant is in excellent condition and has a rich, original patina. It bears French guarantee stamps for 18 karat gold and a makers mark on the "O" ring of the pendant, It is joined with a 16 inch black cord that has a 14 karat gold closure. The pendant measures 1 inch round and with the bail 1 1/4 inches long.
