These elegant, petit antique diamond earrings are French, circa 1890. They are known as dormeuse , or sleeper earrings as they were so comfortable, they could be worn though the night. The style is so wearable that they are as relevant to the fashion of today as they were over 100 years ago.
The settings are 18 karat gold and the diamonds are set in platinum. They retain French guarantee stamps on each ear wire. The European cut diamonds are white and unusually fine for this form and period. They are GH color VS and SI 1 clarity. They are slightly larger than 1/2 carat each on the bottom and 8 pts each on the top. The total approximate diamond weight is 1 carat 16 pts.
The earrings are radiant and the bottom stone is beautifully designed to move and reflect light. They measure 3/4 inches long from the top of the wire and open and close with secure lever backs.
I search for these on every buying trip to Paris. These are an exceptionally lovely quality and in excellent, original condition. They are the perfect earrings to complement a casual or dress wardrobe.
