Perhaps one of the finest rings I have had the privilege of selling, this antique Georgian diamond ring is circa 1800. The oval translucent blue glass plaque applied with a finely rendered central rose-cut diamond urn motif with a border of rose cut diamonds. The blue glass is foil backed and when the light passes through the stone illuminates a radiant magical blue color. The diamonds sparkle with every movement and the oval size is bold and elegant.
The ring is set in 9 karat gold and silver and is completely original. There are French guarantee stamps for import on the shank. Although imported to France, it undoubtedly is of English origin.
The ring measures 1 1/4 inches long X slightly less than 3/4 inches across. It is a size 6 3/4 US. The condition is excellent.
It is a statement ring for the advanced collector, that is as beautiful as it had been over 200 years ago.
