| This is a 9k gold Scottish pin circa 1880. It has inlaid bloodstone and jasper agates, and very detailed, beautiful engraving work. The jasper was first cut in sections and then inlaid into the gold. The bloodstone was cut and shaped by a lapidary into a pyramid type formation. This is very difficult, time consuming work that requires a skilled craftsman. The central stone is a cairngorm, mined in the Cairngorm mountain range in Scotland. The brooch has three sections that were individually designed, and then attached by pins. This gives the pin great depth. It is in excellent condition, is all original, and has a Registry mark as well. It measures 1 5/8 inches across X 1 3/8th inches down. This is a great size and a very traditional design. It is so difficult to find antique gold Scottish pins, and this is a fine example. | |||||||
