This is a high relief, Victorian carved ivory of Bacchus, the God of Wine, circa 1880. Is is a true work of art, classical and well proportioned. The handsome face, the folded tunic, and the hair with draping vine leaves, render this a perfect representation. The back has the letters OEG etched into the ivory, perhaps the carver. It measures 1 5/8 inches across X 2 1/8 inches long. The depth is 5/8 inches. It is all original, and in excellent condition. The mounts are all gold.
