This rare pendant is signed TF Fahrner 935 Germany. It has all the characteristics of the Arts and Crafts Movement in its use of materials and its artistry. This pendant was designed with a frame of wood, polished to a smooth matte finish. Mother of pearl ovals were then bezel set in this geometric border. The inner section which is perfectly framed by the wood, is made of vermeil swirls accented with leaves of dark blue enamel. Surrounding the central black opal are three marcasites. The central panel is domed, and the opal was the perfect stone, chosen to join the frame with the color of the enamel. The bale has two marcasites and the same silver work as the central body. It too has the beautiful blue enamel accents.
The pendant measures 2 3/4 inches long X 1 3/8 inches wide with the bail. The condition is excellent and it is all original. This is a classical Fahrner pendant, subtle and beautiful.
