This French 18k and silver brooch is 19th century. It is referred to in French as " en tremblant" for the movement of the bird created by a spring mechanism on the back. This form of brooch is quite rare to find, and has often been reproduced. This is an original with French touchmarks on the wing, pinstem, and c-clasp. Of note, are the finely cut rose diamonds all set in silver. The collar and eye are cabachon rubies set in gold. The brooch is 18k topped with silver to set the diamonds. It measures 1 3/4 inches across x 1 inch down. These type of pins are often found in floral form and rarer to find as a bird in flight. It is completely original and in excellent condition. It is great worn on the shoulder as it highlights the movement.
