Antique Pin and Earrings Silver Georgian Boxed Set

This matched brooch and silver earrings set is circa 1830. Quite a treasure to find housed in an original box in mint condition, they are Continental in origin. A silversmith spent hours utilizing tiny fine spirals of silver which were twisted and worked into patterns appearing like fine embroidery. This type of work is called cannetille and although found in gold jewelry of the period, it is uncommon in silver. The weight is feather-like, although there is great visual dimension. Created entirely by hand, it is a work of art. The silver is both shiny and matte creating a subtle contrast.

The brooch measures 3 1/4 inches long with the drop x 2 inches wide. The bottom drop is detachable if desired. The brooch would then measure 2 x2 inches.

The earrings measure 2 3/8 inches from the top of the wire x 7/8 wide. They were designed with four articulating sections. The detailing is beautiful and the central bow motif feminine and elegant. They are completely original and in extraordinary condition. The exterior of the box is worn, but the interior is fine and the box closes securely.

Worn individually or as a suite, it is uniquely beautiful. The brooch would also look elegant on a ribbon. Truly one of a kind, circa 1830.
