| This rare Stuart Crystal heart with a portrait miniature is 17th century. Following the execution of King Charles I, the Stuart followers made items of jewelry with faceted crystal below which contained hair,cyphers, or sentimental portrait miniatures. In this locket we have a portrait miniature done in watercolor on vellum. The locket is two sided, with one side having the portrait and the reverse having the painting of the crown,roses,initials and his date of execution. This is a remarkable locket in excellent condition, preserved and loved in the hands to whom it has been entrusted. The crystals are finely faceted around the perimeter both front and back sides of the locket. The high carat rose gold is finely worked in a crimped rub over setting. The locket opens and closes securely and is completely original. It measures 1 inch long including the bail x 3/4 inches across. It is one of the finest Stuart crystal I have had the opportunity to sell. | ||||||||||||
