These beautiful, natural rich salmon color coral earrings are circa 1880. They are classically inspired with finely carved heads of Bacchus. In Greek and Roman mythology Bacchus represents the god of wine and revelry. The earrings are a perfect size to wear day or evening, measuring 1 1/8 from the top of the gold wire x 3/8 across. The reverse indicates original mounts and wires. The carvings of the face, grapes and leaves are especially well done, and the condition is excellent. These are a lovely example of Victorian coral jewelry. |
