Exceptionally beautiful mid 19th century amethyst necklace. The design is a riviere, also called "rivers of light" as the stones follow one another joined simply by a small link. The faceted amethyst are bezel set in cut down beautifully detailed collets and vary between light and deep shades. It has been cleverly designed to be worn as a necklace or as two bracelets. If worn as a necklace the clasps are worn on either side of the neck. The necklace measures 15.5 inches in length. The amethysts range in size from 5/8 x 1/2 to 1/2 x 3/8ths. It can easily be adjusted for length by any competent jeweler. It is 15k and English in origin. Their are two small edge chips near the facet line, otherwise excellent condition. |
