Very beautiful 19th century French figural bee brooch. It has well cut rose diamonds adorning the wings and head, and a tiger's eye realistically simulating the body. The diamonds glitter with life and are set in finely millegrained silver topped gold. A French eagle's head is on the pin stem which is a guarantee for 18k. It measures 1 1/8 inches across the wing span X 1 1/8 down. The condition is excellent and it is completely original. Exquisite, realistic rendering and craftsmanship as would be expected of French jewelry. A beauty, circa 1890 |
